Pauline Trigere's 1971 collection was nature -centric and featured turtle prints and other elements if that ilk. For this dress she used the clover as the base of the print and then blew it up so that it becomes an almost stylized element on its own. On the top half it is screened onto a silk chiffon and on the bottom a silk of a more standard weight. Incredibly, all around the waist the silk clovers that circle the waist area were actually cut out and then attached by hand to the silk chiffon bodice! As you examine the dress in closer detail you realize just how much time and effort would have been put into this piece! The neck line is high with a scarf like finish. The bodice is cut to skin over the bodice and the waist left slightly full with just partial seams to suggest shape. The skirt is surprisingly full and the silk used drapes beautifully. The sleeves are of course the show stopper - each trails ot meet the hem of the dress and are left open just after the elbow. They are beautiful and dramatic! Excellent condition.

Fully lined in a nude color silk chiffon with the sleeves left unlined. Closes with a metal and nylon zipper set below a keyhole in the back. Three silk covered buttons and loops at the back of the neck. Bias cut silk allows for a good amount of flexibility in sizing
